Today I thought it might be a good idea to start a wee blog here on our wee pdaf website. Our festival has the innate theme of 'whole picture seeing' and has a triple strand of "From Phantom Wealth to Real Wealth' running through its program.
So, where do I go for some global jewels in this hour of global jitters?
Yes, to YES! And to David Korten's blog to see what is new:
And today watching ho the Global Stockmarket jitters yet again mightily, and watching Robert Peston (BBC's economy correspondent), who earlier this year showed that interest and derivatives are the trap that can never create liberation from a system that lives only through us making more debts and which creates financial institutions too big too fail, ... as I am watching him just going on with the hamster wheel story - I need some fresh global air from sane community credit fellows so not to believe this tempting illusion that mountains of debt can only be redeemed by mountains of debt. Something that doesn't make sense to common sense, but that gets perpetually rehashed along with the other illusion that 'our economy' has to 'grow' so to be 'economy', even if it means the most uneconomic spending cuts you and I (no fat cats here? Yes? so it is you too, as long as your income is under 50k, believe it or not!) can bear to bear.... or not bear as the case may be...

Ah it is so good to feel part of this Global community who dares to think things anew. And there is no other way out of this hamster wheel of phantom wealth and phantom debt but to listen, look and think:
what do others see, hear, think and do?
How do they make sense out of the current debacle and what structures do they see as waiting for us to apply them?
Well, David Korten doesn't suggest any specific new structures, as these we (each circle of community locally and globally) have to find themselves first but he suggests a very sense-ible threefold strategy and highlights nine action clusters.

› Nine Action Clusters Our work is segmented into nine interrelated action clusters:
Effective action will shift the economic system’s defining value from money to life, its locus of decision making from global to local, its favored dynamic from competition to cooperation, its defining ethic from externalizing costs to embracing responsibility, and its primary purpose from growing individual financial fortunes for a few to building living community wealth to enhance the health and well-being of everyone. We humans face an epic choice between the certain outcome of continuing business as usual and the possible future it is within our means to create through conscious collective action.

As explained in my New Economy 2.0 blog on “The Story of a New Economy,” the power of authentic culture stories gives civil society the ultimate advantage in the contest for the human future. Stories alone will not, of course, bring down the institutions of Empire. Nor should we welcome the inevitable chaos that the collapse of Empire will bring if we have not first laid a foundation of the new rules, relationships, and institutions of a New Economy.
Social systems self-organize around ideas and relationships. They are living, complex, dynamic, and constantly evolving as they and their members learn from shared experience. The organism, not the machine, provides the appropriate metaphor. The relevant knowledge resides not with outside experts but with the people who populate the system. The challenge for those who strive to be agents of transformational change is to help members of their group, community, or society recognize, organize, and use that knowledge in ever more effective ways.
Through the dynamics of societal scale social learning processes, people innovate, create, and learn to relate in new ways that enhance their shared well-being. Individual learning translates into community learning that translates into species learning.
The overall process has three primary elements that frame a powerful societal-scale change strategy. http://www.yesmagazine.org/blogs/david-korten/a-three-fold-change-strategy
