Andrew Crummy
Andrew writes om his website:
Born in Craigmillar, Edinburgh which is often seen as a poor area. In fact, my introduction to art was through the Craigmillar Festival Society, so my childhood memories are of festivals, drama, music, clowns, colour and laughter. Having trained as an illustrator, my professional life started off working for New Musical Express, The Observer but developed into large scale, collaborative artworks in public and community settings. Since 1985 I have been fortunate to have been involved with many mural projects around the world. I have become involved with a range of book publications, multimedia events, festivals and educational programs.

Everyone from here who had been at the 3 Harbours Festival http://www.3harbours.co.uk/ has felt galvanised by the wealth and stealth this festival oozes and the true unlimited wealth it shows from year to year over the last 6 years and - you bet! - over unlimited years to come.
"Art in unusual places" is the tagline for this festival.
The ease with which it is done by a strong community there - we hope it can grow here too from strength to strength.
What would be our equivalent to the Prestonpans Tapestry, I wonder

Andrew came on July and met with some of us in the library. We are still proof reading the conversation's transcript and will make it available here.
Meeting him gave a rich and exquisite insight in and feeling for what matters in a community arts festival and the Real Wealth created.
Have a look at his and 3harbours website and be inspired!
